Downey Jr Falls Off The Wagon

Robert Downey Jr looks to be headed straight back to the slammer after being arrested this Saturday (25 November) on fresh drug charges, only three months after being released for previous offences. According to Reuters, Police in Palm Springs California responded to an anonymous 911 call and found Downey alone in a hotel room and in possession of both cocaine and methamphetamine. Apparently arrested without incident, he posted bail for $15,000 early Sunday morning and immediately checked himself into a rehab clinic. Downey was arrested three times in 1996, including one occasion where his urine tested positive for heroin, marijuana, valium and cocaine. Sent way in June 1999 for violating his probation, he was was finally released in August this year. Supporters had finally begun to believe that the star had committed himself to the straight and narrow since his release from prison. Downey has been outspoken about his remorse for past mistakes and has even voiced support for custodial sentences being imposed for drug offences. This latest transgression will see his credibility destroyed and may well see him facing another stint of incarceration.
