The tragic death of Tony Scott last year left a big hole in action cinema's heart and a raft of projects abandoned that had been in development for him to direct. One by one these scripts and ideas are being adopted, with Narco Su****b now possibly headed to Doug Liman’s care.

Liman, who is putting the finishing touches to Tom Cruise sci-fi tale Edge Of Tomorrow, is in early negotiations with 20th Century Fox to tackle the drug-smuggling drama. Safe House scribe David Guggenheim wrote the script, which is set in the world of semi-submersible crafts used by South American cartels to get their product into the US.

Ridley Scott’s Scott Free company is aboard to produce the film, working alongside Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. It’s just the latest project to catch Liman’s eye: he’s also working up a film based around conquering Everest and an adaptation of Jack Finney’s sci-fi novel Time And Again, along with long-gestating pics Luna (a moon-based drama) and true-life prison tale Attica.

**Edge Of Tomorrow **hits our screens on May 30 next year.
