If you've been missing Timothy Dalton on your TV screen since the end of Penny Dreadful, you'll be happy to learn he'll be back, even if it'll mean subscribing to the DC Universe streaming service. Dalton has landed the role of Dr. Niles "The Chief" Caulder in Doom Patrol.

A pioneer in medical science, Caulder searches the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, he will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, which leads to the creation of a collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.

The likes of Brendan Fraser, Diane Guerrero and Jovian Wade are playing some of the heroes, with the recently-announced Alan Tudyk as the villainous Mr. Nobody.

Supernatural veteran Jeremy Carver is running the show, with DC TV overlord Greg Berlanti producing alongside Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. The show will be on the service next year.
