Donna Murphy Joins Rapunzel

Donna Murphy - who some of you may remember from her role as Doc Ock's wife in Spider-Man 2 - has joined the cast of Disney's CG animated Rapunzel.

Murphy will be channelling her evil side for the role of Mother Gothel, the nasty witch who keeps the long-haired Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) locked away in a tower without doors or stairs until the girl escapes with the help of a bandit (Zachary Levi).

Bolt's Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, who took over the project when it stalled under Glen Keane, are busy working to get it ready for a release late next year.
