While the main Milla Jovovich franchise has ended, Resident Evil keeps on expanding its footprint on screens, with a Netflix series and a new origin movie. Donal Logue is joining the latter.

Logue will be Chief Irons in the movie, which has Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia and Neal McDonough already aboard, with Chad Rook and Lily Gao joining up alongside Logue.

Johannes Roberts is directing, and the film is even more directly referencing the Capcom games series, set during a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998. Screen Gems is aiming to have the film in cinemas next year, and the cameras are already rolling.
