Labour ministers back British Film

It might have over 11 months to go before it becomes vacant, but already proposals abound over the future of London's Millennium Dome. A sports stadium, a theme park and various other entertainment centres have been mentioned, but by far the best idea so far comes - amazingly - from the Labour party.

Apparently unnamed 'senior figures' in government are keen to push plans to turn the enormous space into a studio lot, a move that would give the now reasonably healthy British film industry space to spread its wings - a neat fate for a stucture which has already starred in the Bond movie, The World is Not Enough. According to today's Daily Mail newspaper, this same group of influential persons is keen to hang onto to home-grown stories too, and wants to see projects like the Harry Potter film made in the UK with British talent. But as regular **Empire Online **readers already know - that is indeed the plan - Harry Potter casting director Susie Figgis is combing the country as we speak, looking for the perfect wizard-in-training.
