It’s official! The loveable dog genre is back! Following hard on the paws of Paul Walker huskie drama Eight Below, a new version of Lassie and Tim Allen-turns-into-a-dog flick The Shaggy Dog, Firehouse Dog is the next in a growing slate of canine capers itching (and scratching) to reach the screen.

With a screenplay by newbie Claire-Dee Lim, Firehouse follows Rexxx, Hollywood’s most in-demand pooch, who strays too far from a bustling backlot and gets adopted by a down-on-its-luck fire station. Bree Turner (The Wedding Planner) stars as a commercials producer who worked with Rexxx before he went AWOL and leads the hunt to track down the missing mutt.

Directed by Todd Holland — a TV veteran who has steered the likes of quality youth fare like My So Called Life, Felicity and Malcolm In The MiddleFirehouse Dog also features Josh Hutcherson, Bruce Greenwood, Dash Mihok and Steven Culp. Expect lots of trailers featuring Who Let The Dogs Out clogging up your screens soon.
