Cancel all those funerals for hand-drawn animation. Looks like it's alive and kicking at the American box office, largely thanks to Disney's latest, **The Princess And The Frog.

The 'toon hopped to the top of the charts, taking in $25 million after a couple of weeks of limited release and its first week going wide.

It meant that the rest of the top five had to shift, though The Blind Side clung on, nabbing second place and $15.4 million. Its total take is now up to $150 million.

Clint Eastwood's latest, Invictus, arrived in third place, scoring $9.1 million for the true-life tale of Nelson Mandela's attempts to unite South Africa through rugby. New Moon sank down to fourth, drawing in $8 million, while A Christmas Carol rounded out the top five with $6.8 million.

The rest of the chart was similar to last week - **Up In The Air **earned well, but is still in limited release, while fellow new releases A Single Man and The Lovely Bones also arrived in a scattered few cinemas, ready to ramp up in the coming weeks.
