He's been spending time in that galaxy far, far away for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story most recently, but Diego Luna appears ready to return to Earth and peer beyond the veil of death. He's in talks to join Ellen Page in the Flatliners remake.

Niels Arden Oplev is directing the new take on the story first used by the 1990 original, which starred Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt, and involved medical students causing themselves all kinds of surreal mental anguish with their ill-advised near-death experiments.

Source Code’s Ben Ripley has written the most recent draft of the script, which updates the story with modern scientific thinking and intends to shake-up the cast the more women included this time. The cameras should be rolling in July.

In addition to Rogue One, which arrives on our screens on December 16, Luna wrote and directed Mr. Pig, which debuted at Sundance, and will be seen in The Bad Batch and Blood Father.
