While Simon Kinberg and Jessica Chastain had assembled a great cast for spy thriller 355, they recently lost the services of Marion Cotillard to scheduling issues. Now, though, Diane Kruger is stepping in to take her place in an ensemble that also includes Lupita Nyong’o, Fan Bingbing and Penelope Cruz.
With a script from Theresa Rebeck, 355 finds top agents from intelligence organisations around the world having to find a way to work together when a new threat emerges, one on the verge of acquiring a weapon that could throw the world into total chaos. Strangers and enemies become comrades and friends, and from the mission a new faction arises, with its numerical name inspired by the codename of the one of the earliest spies in the American Revolution, a woman whose identity remains unknown to this day.
Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez are also in the cast for the film, which Chastain is producing as well as leading. Kinberg is in pre-production to start shooting soon. Kruger will next be seen on these shores in JT Leroy, which arrives on 16 August.
