Staunchly maintaining the idea that it's a film that Is Honestly Happening, No Take-Backs, Detective Pikachu continues to add cast members as the cameras roll. Bill Nighy and You're The Worst's Chris Geere are the latest recruits.

As the title suggests, the film will find a Pikachu – Ryan Reynolds in a motion capture suit, just one more detail that makes us wonder if this isn't all a lark – on the hunt for the missing father of a young man (Justice Smith). Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe are also aboard, with Rob Letterman on directing duty.

Letterman and Nicole Perlman wrote the script, with production polishing from Eric Pearson and Tom McCarthy. Nighy and Geere are playing a father-son duo, with the movie due next year.

Nighy has worked on films including Triple Word Score and

Heidi: Queen Of The Mountain. Geere continues his small-screen gig and will also be seen in Deadtectives.
