Given how much cash villain-as-hero ‘toon Despicable Me took in for Universal and producers Illumination Entertainment back in 2010 ($543 million worldwide), Despicable Me 2 was pretty much guaranteed. But given the lead time for the CG animation, there’s really not much finished work to show this far from the movie’s 2013 launch date, so what to do? When in doubt, wheel on the minions! The teaser trailer is over at Apple.

Don’t go expecting to learn anything about the plot, new characters or setting of the sequel from this. It’s really just the little yellow guys singing The Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann, but replacing the words with their usual gibberish.

The film itself will feature the voices of Steve Carell, Russell Brad, Jason Segel, and most of the original cast, with Al Pacino hopping aboard to play the villain this time.

The poster has also arrived. It, predictably, also goes heavy on the minion action. Check it out below.Directed by the original film’s duo of Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, Despicable Me 2 will land on June 28 next year.
