Gary Fleder has found the American football coach he needs to star in The Express.
Dennis Quaid, who last dabbled in sports movies with 2002’s baseball pic The Rookie, will co-star as a mentor in the true-life tale of football legend Ernie Davis.
Director Gary Fleder hasn’t yet tracked down the young star who’ll play Davis, who shattered racial barriers at Syracuse University in the 1960s and won the prestigious Heisman Trophy. But his life took a tragic turn when he was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Fleder will need to find an actor to fill the role before March, when he’ll kick off production.
