Is this a match made in heaven? Director Michael Mann has announced his next project – and he's looking for Tom Cruise to be his leading man. Mann has been linked to various films since finishing work on Ali – among them one on a superhero on the pull - but it was announced today that Collateral will be the first one to begin shooting. The action, according to Variety, takes place all on one night when a taxi driver picks up a contract killer who forces him at gunpoint to drive him around Los Angeles in pursuit of his quarry. Mann apparently wants Cruise to play the killer, which will be a refreshing change. It's been some time since we saw Cruise play an out-and-out baddy (and before you email us - his role in Magnolia doesn't count – that was unlikeable rather than evil). Although Cruise hasn't signed on the dotted line, it's expected he will come on board very soon – both he and Mann have been trying to find a suitable project to work on together for some time.
