Dead To Rights

What if you died, but didn’t feel like making your way towards that beautiful, bright glowing light? What if you felt like sticking around. It’s the job of the Rest In Peace Department to kick your sorry arse off the mortal coil.

Peter M Lenkov’s 1999 Dark Horse graphic novel RIPD features dead cops patrolling exactly that ghoulish beat. Sound like a fun movie in the Men In Black/Ghostbusters vein? Universal agrees with you – it’s had the project sitting in development limbo for months.

And now David Dobkin – who brought us Wedding Crashers, and is already hard at work on a rogue Santa film with Vince Vaughn – has cracked the problem and hired Aeon Flux writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi to scribble his version of the script. The story will focuses on a police officer who joins the squad after being murdered and who starts a search for the man who set him up.
