Robert De Niro won't be teaming up with long-time collaborator Martin Scorsese for his new project, Gangs of New York, which is due to begin filming in Rome next year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, De Niro made the decision due to personal reasons.

Word is though, that the actor is a bit nervy about working abroad after last year's business in Paris, when his name was linked with a prostitution ring in an investigation undertaken by French Gendarmes. His presence will be missed - 'Gangs is to go ahead with the not-very-Scorsese-ish Leo Di Caprio on board.
