Day Of The Dead remake announced

Like their shambling, Romero-spawned forebears, the updated, sprinting flesh-eaters of the Dawn Of The Dead remake are getting their own second entry.

Day Of The Dead will see Ving Rhames return to zombie-blasting duties, with his cop now joined by Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon.

It’s not known if the new Day will follow the same plot as Romero’s 1986 version – a military bunker holding scientists and soldiers offers a brief respite from the zombie hoard – but chances are it’ll be similar.

This time around, the director is Halloween H2O’s Steve Miner, working from a script by Final Destination scribe Jeffrey Reddick. The Dawn remake was a well-crafted hit. This one will have a lot to live – or is that die? – up to.
