Though he’s busy gathering cast members and jungle friends for Warner Bros.’ new take on Tarzan, David Yates has also found time to track down other work besides pop-culture’s most famous loin cloth-sporting hero{ =nofollow}. He’s now attached to direct Who Is Jake Ellis?

20th Century Fox nabbed the rights to Nathan Edmondson and Tonci Zonjic’s Image comic, which finds a former CIA mercenary named Jon Moore on the run. He’s protected by the mysterious titular man, who only Jon can apparently see but who boasts a superior knowledge of espionage that’s keeping him alive. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the story blends chunks of Bourne, Memento and, given the whole mystery angle around Jake, Fight Club.

It’s early days for the project, and there isn't even a writer attached yet. But if the eventual film is a success, there’s a ready-made sequel waiting in the wings via Edmondson and Zonjic’s follow-up Where Is Jake Ellis?

Of course, Yates’ attachment doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll end up in the director’s chair: he has several projects bubbling away on his post-Harry Potter schedule and anyone who followed the story of **Your Voice In My Head knows that there may yet be a slip between a planned Yates project and the screen. Still, fingers crossed that this comes together.
