David O Russell Could Go Under Cover

After the trials and tribulations around David O Russell’s seemingly cursed comedy drama Nailed and him dropping out of negotiations to tackle video game adaptation Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, it looks like his luck might finally be swinging back towards the “Good” zone. He’s got positive buzz building for the Mark Wahlberg/Christian Bale boxing drama The Fighter and now he’s under serious consideration for another job,** Under Cover**, which has Jim Carrey attached.

It’s still fairly early days for the film, which Summit is busy developing and is trying to lock Carrey into the lead. If he signs, the actor will play a recently divorced father who tries to win back his family and re-discover his voice by playing with a cover band who are decidedly younger than he is.

That blend of comedy and music doesn’t always equal box office hit (as everyone involved with The Rocker will attest), but Summit will be hoping it works out more to the tune of School of Rock.

And it’s also no sure thing for Russell either, since he’s just one name on a list according to the LA Times. But it sounds like a better match of filmmaker and subject than him trying his hand at a movie based on a game, so fingers crossed for this one.
