David Gordon Green Off To The Prairie?

Even though he took what some considered an odd turn into slacker pot comedy after his thoughtful indie start, David Gordon Green is looking to keep surprising us with his possible film choices. He’s now part of a team putting together a new film version of, of all things, Little House On The Prairie.

Most of us likely encountered the TV adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-autobiographical children’s classic book series on Sunday morning, chronicling the gentle adventures of her family in the 19th century American western frontier. We were introduced to Charles and Caroline Ingalls and their three daughters, Mary, Laura and Carrie.

Little is known about the film version yet, except that Gordon Green wants to direct it working from a script by Shame / The Iron Lady’s Abi Morgan, herself something of a genre-roaming sort.

Sony is in negotiations to finance the film, which, assuming it all is set up, would likely slip into the director’s schedule after he finally gets to work on his Suspiria remake (which is set to start this month) and Joe** with Nicolas Cage.
