It’s hardly a surprising choice, but one that we can firmly get behind. Sony has been working up its biopic, which Sorkin has adapted from Walter Isaacson’s biography of the man, since shortly after Jobs died. Fincher has not made a deal yet, and any discussions are at an early stage, but the combination of the writing/directing pair, the subject matter and Network producer Scott Rudin would be a compelling blend.
Jobs’ life is one ripe for the biopic treatment: he co-founded Apple, was dismissed from the company and returned to save it when it was struggling. He was also a polarizing man, loved by many and considered a hard boss to work for. He’s been the subject of at least one film already, with last year’s Jobs featuring Ashton Kutcher playing the man through his early career.
Whoever Sony (and, potentially, Fincher) find to play him will be faced with a considerably bigger challenge. Wonder if Kutcher will show up to the auditions with a copy of the film as his attempt to score a meeting?
