Never one for straightforward announcements, director David Ayer may have just revealed the main villain for his upcoming Suicide Squad spin-off film, Gotham City Sirens, the planned DC female villains team-up. Margot Robbie is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn, this time alongside Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

The Suicide Sqaud director tweeted a comics panel of Black mask, one of Batman’s most notorious nemes, heavily implying that the that the veiled villain be the main threat of the movie. Since Ayer isn’t currently pegged to direct Suicide Squad 2, it seems logical that he could be hinting at the Gotham City Sirens supervillain.

Black Mask made his comic book debut in 1985 and has become known for his fixation with masks, his sadistic personality and ongoing rivalry with Batman. Catwoman and Black Mask have had a tumultuous rivalry with the anti-hero in comics recently, with both characters warring Gotham crime bosses.

This is not the first time the director has used Twitter to tease. In 2015, he shared the first glimpse of Jared Leto’s Joker and in December last year he posted an illustration of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman with the hashtag: “sirens” confirming their appearances in the blockbuster. There’s no word on when Gotham City Sirens will arrive, but it appears to be in active development, and will definitely be along before the also-planned Suicide Squad 2.
