After breaking big with his role as Drax in Guardians Of The Galaxy, Dave Bautista has been a busy man, notching up plenty of work. He’s now part of the cast for Warrior’s Gate alongside Sienna Guillory, Uriah Shelton, Mark Chao and Ni Ni.

With a script by Luc Besson and regular collaborator Robert Kamen, Warrior’s Gate has Matthias Hoene cranking the cameras in China. The story follows a teenager (Shelton) who is magically transported to the Far East and must learn to turn his video game skills into those of a kung fu warrior. Sort of** The Last Starfighter** meets a Jackie Chan film, then.

“Dave Bautista is the perfect blockbuster villain – his star quality and international standing will entertain cinemagoers worldwide. Though his opponents in the film will perhaps be less pleased,” says producer and Fundamental chairman Mark Gao, whose company is funding the film alongside Besson’s EuropaCorp. There’s no word when the movie will hit our screens, but we’d venture a guess at next year.

Bautista is playing Mr. Hinx in the latest Bond film, Spectre, which arrives here on October 23 before heading to the US for November 6. He’s also part of the cast for the new Kickboxer and is rumoured to be The Kurgan in the remake of Highlander.
