Fans, studio executives and art lovers stood shoulder to shoulder last night at the opening of The Art of Star Wars exhibition in London. The exhibition, which features full-size models of Anakin's pod racer and the Naboo fighter as well as countless original drawings, storyboards, models and costumes, attracted a large crowd for its opening night. Among the visitors were Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) who worked as a consultant on the project and actor Ray Park - better known as Darth Maul. Howard Rothman, Vice President of Lucasfilm spoke at the opening ceremony, saying ‘George had no sense that [Star Wars artworks] were going to be artefacts that were exhibited in a museem.’ Rothman went on to praise the exhibition which is the first in the world to look at the contribution that artists made to the legend that is Star Wars. ‘It’s a tribute to George Lucas and the tremendous creative talents that went into making these films,’ he said.
