Farm-set dramas are a staple of both British cinema and telly, and if they strike a chord, they can lead to success – just ask the team behind God's Own Country. Now here comes Dark River, which stars Luther's Ruth Wilson.

Directed by The Selfish Giant's Clio Barnard, who we're glad to see back behind the camera, Dark River focuses on Alice (Wilson), who returns home to Yorkshire for the first time in 15 years following her father's (Sean Bean) death. There to claim to tenancy of the family farm she believes is hers, she clashes with her older brother Joe (Mark Stanley), a man worn down by years of struggling to keep the farm going while also caring for their sick father.

Alice has her own issues to confront too – a series of traumatic memories are inextricably linked to the place, and she'll have to wrestle with her past if she's to repair the sibling bond.

Dark River will be out in the UK on 23 February.
