Cynthia Erivo has long proved she's got true musical ability, and she'll be showing it again for a new musical drama called Talent Show.
While it's only a working title for now, the film will seen Erivo as a failed songwriter who returns home to Chicago to lead a group of at-risk youth in their annual talent show.
The film comes from several people who have been involved with TV series The Chi, including director Gandja Monteiro, and Aimee Lagos wrote the early drafts of the script alongside Step Up veteran Duane Adler, who came up with the original idea. And the Chi links continue, as show creator Lena Waithe has written the latest version of the story. Could this be the film to score Erivo her EGOT?
