John Cusack and Catherine Zeta-Jones are in talks to play a feuding movie star couple in Joe Roth's America's Sweethearts. The script deals with a husband and wife team who still have to promote a film they made together, although they have since split up acrimoniously. Billy Crystal (who also co-wrote the script) is in line to play the movie's publicist, and negotiations are ongoing with Julia Roberts to play Zeta-Jones sister, who Cusack just happens to be in love with. Joe Roth was previously the head of both Fox and Disney, and also produced While You Were Sleeping and Young Guns, but he has directed before. His most recent project was 1990 comedy Coupe de Ville, and before that he made Revenge Of The Nerds II: Nerds In Paradise in 1987. As long as all the stars' deals pan out, production on America's Sweethearts is set to start in January 2001.
