Curtis Goes South Of The Border

She hasn't appeared on our screens in ages, not since Freaky Friday back in 2003 (we're pretending **Christmas With the Kranks **never happened, OK?). Why, back in those halcyon days her co-star, Lindsay Lohan, was still a fresh-faced teen and we'd never heard of Facebook, so it's about time she got back in the saddle and came back to the screen in South of the Border.

Curtis is joining the CG / live-action film as a character called Aunt Viv, the owner of a spoilt Beverley Hills chihuahua (not a breed we're familiar with), voiced by Drew Barrymore, who has to make an Incredible Journey-style trek home after she is lost in Mexico.

Along with Piper Perabo, who'll always be "her from Coyote Ugly" to us, Curtis is the only live-action actor in the film, but other voice cast members include Andy Garcia, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Edward James Olmos, George Lopez, Paul Rodriguez and Placido Domingo (eh?). We're going to take a wild stab in the dark here and say that every one of those voice cast members plays a Mexican. Let's hope they avoid at least some of the usual sombrero-wearing bandido stereotypes though.

Raja Gosnell, of Scooby Doo fame, is directing, and the result is due out next year.
