The swarm of casting announcements for the third series of The Crown continues. Call The Midwife's Erin Doherty has scored the role of Princess Anne for the show's next two batches of episodes.

With the series jumping ahead in time, Peter Morgan and his team have been busy recruiting the people to play older versions of Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman in the new series), her family and associated others. Young Lyla Barrett-Rye played Anne in series two, but now Doherty will play the daughter to the Queen and Prince Philip (Tobias Menzies) as she deals with her own personal life and royal duties.

She joins the likes of Helena Bonham Carter, Ben Daniels and Jason Watkins in the cast for the show, which has kicked off filming and will be back on our screens via Netflix next year.
