As the The Crown moves through time in its various series, we meet some new characters. And a major figure from the royals' life has now been cast, with Emerald Fennell on board as Camilla Parker Bowles.

While she's long since married into the family, Parker Bowles was a controversial figure, Prince Charles' (played for now by Josh O'Connor) first love and the future Duchess Of Cornwall.

"I’m absolutely over the moon, and completely terrified, to be joining so many hugely talented people on The Crown," says Fennell in a statement. "I absolutely love Camilla, and am very grateful that my teenage years have well prepared me for playing a chain-smoking serial snogger with a pudding bowl hair cut."

She joins the new current cast, which includes Olivia Colman as the Queen, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowden and Marion Bailey, who is taking over the role of the Queen Mother.

With the cameras rolling now, The Crown will be back on our screens next year. While you wait, why not brush up on other options with The 50 Best Movies On Netflix UK and The 50 Best TV Shows On Netflix.
