Crowe Finds A Son For Matt Damon

Cameron Crowe appears to have found another member of the family for his next film, based on Benjamin Mee’s memoir, We Bought a Zoo. Colin Ford has been cast as Matt Damon’s son in the movie, according to Pajiba’s oft-reliable Hollywood Cog source.

Zoo will adapt Mee’s book, which followed the former Guardian columnist moving his family to Dartmoor Wildlife Park after buying the place with an ambitious plan of renovating it and helping the animals that live there.

While Mee successfully pulled off the job, he was struck by tragedy as, in the middle of his efforts, his wife Katherine learned she had terminal cancer.

Ford, who has worked on such films as Push and has appeared on TV’s Supernatural as the young Sam Winchester several times, will appear alongside Damon in the movie, which Crowe has planned to shoot early next year after re-writing Aline Brosh McKenna’s original script to suit his style.

Thomas Haden Church recently joined the cast and Crowe has also been looking for someone to play the wife, with Amy Adams under serious consideration (though her busy schedule may make it impossible for her to fit it in).
