Having wrung the last drops of hype out of the Harry Potter marketing campaign, Warner Bros have now managed to get their hands on a property which takes aspects of Potter and adds a little Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for good measure. A strange combination to be sure but Wandering Warrior, is a stalwart attempt to break into the Chinese market with an amalgam of these two winning formulas. According to Variety, the children's martial arts tale is set in 19th century China and revolves around a certain young boy. Raised by monks, he is taught the fighting arts to keep to fight off an evil enemy - the surprising identity of which is kept cunningly hidden in true Voldemort fashion. With the monastery a kind of shaven-headed Hogwarts and the quick-fisted youngster a Harry who owes more to Chow Yun Fat than Daniel Radcliffe, Wandering Warrior will be nothing if not interesting. Wandering Warrior is scheduled for Chinese release in 2003.
