Looks like David Cronenberg will be juggling directing jobs.
While it was announced a couple of weeks ago that his next film will be dark Hollywood comedy Maps To The Stars, he’s also now considering Eastern Promises, written by Dirty Pretty Things’ Steve Knight.
Promises is about a young midwife who investigates the mysterious death of a Russian girl who dies in childbirth on Christmas Eve. She uncovers a sex-trafficking ring and is soon in serious trouble.
Cronenberg and Knight are working on the script with an eye to an autumn shoot in London. It’ll depend on which screenplay is ready first.
