Awards have been scattered hither and yon for the past month or so, but now is when it starts to get interesting.

The Producers' and Writers' Guilds in the US have announced their nominations and given their strong presence in the Academy they represent a good indication of those that may be taking home a little man come February 27.

The WGA nominations are:

Best Original Screenplay: Cinderella Man, Crash, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Good Night, and Good Luck, The Squid and the Whale

Best Adapted Screenplay: Brokeback Mountain, Capote, The Constant Gardener, A History of Violence and Syriana

The PGA nominations for Best Picture are: Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Crash, Good Night, and Good Luck, and Walk the Line.
