The film adaptation of Captain Corelli's Mandolin is one step closer to reaching the screen witht ehnews that Spainish actress Penelope Cruz has won the role of Greek islander Pelagia. Helmed by Shakespeare In Love director John Maddan, 'Mandolin' will also star Nic Cage as the titular Captain in the WWII story set on the Ionian island of Cephalonia. Huge in Spain, Cruz is already breaking Hollywood with credits including The Hi-Lo Country and All The Pretty Horses.
