A new Journey To The Centre Of The Earth

There’s a new journey planned to the centre of the Earth. And no, we’re not talking about a sequel to The Core.

New Line is producing Journey 3-D, a modern spin on Jules Verne’s classic Journey To The Centre Of The Earth. Last filmed for the big screen in 1959, the story is getting a distinctly modern touch.

The plot follows a teenager and his scientist father who discover a message hidden in an ancient artefact. To solve the riddle, they have to journey down into a previously unknown world – and deal with the strange creatures they meet there.

The film’s being shot live action, but the weird landscapes and their inhabitants will be realised with high-definition, photo-real 3-D effects technology. Eric Brevig, an award-winning SFX technician will make his directorial debut, working from a script by High Fidelity co-writer DV DeVincentis.
