Another villain to face McClane

Cole Hauser Joins Die Hard 5

Following in the dastardly footsteps of Alan Rickman, William Sadler, Jeremy Irons and Timothy Olyphant, Cole Hauser has just joined the cast of **A Good Day To Die Hard, in a villainous capacity.

Deadline reports that his character will be called Collins, although there are no other details so far. Collins Gruber? Unlikely, we're saying. And we should perhaps be cautious, since he's being described as a villain, and not explicitly the villain, so he may turn out to be a henchman yet. Sebastian Koch and Yuliya Snigir were also announced last month as antagonists. Who's working for whom?

This will be the third time Hauser has worked with Bruce Willis, since he's also in Antoine Fuqua's Tears Of The Sun, and Gregory Hoblit's Hart's War. This time out, the pair are being directed by John Moore (Max Payne), and A Good Day To Die Hard involves John McClane and his son Jack (Jai Courtney) foiling a plot in Russia.

Intriguingly, the film is currently set for a release in February 2013, rather than during the summer blockbuster season. Some sources have speculated that this indicates modest expectations on the part of studio Fox, while others have pointed out that the winter of 2012 was the strongest in recent box office history (is winter the new summer?), and that opening on Valentine's weekend has serious event-movie date potential.

Whatever, it means that the early part of 2013 is a six-week Expendables-fest: Arnold Schwarzenegger's Last Stand is out on January 18, and Sylvester Stallone's Bullet To The Head follows on February 1. A Good Day To Die Hard goes yippee-kay-aye on February 15.
