Dancing comedy is greenlit

It’s official: the next big trend will be clog dancing.

Well, maybe. New Line is switched on the greenlight for Julia Fowler’s script Possum Trot Cloggers.

Howard Deutch is directing the comedy, which focuses on a woman who’s ditched from a clogging dance team by her cheating coach boyfriend. She then puts together a rag-tag team to compete for the national clogging championship and even manages to find time for romance along the way.

Sticking closely to the old “write what you know” mantra, Fowler has set the film in her hometown of Gaffney, South Carolina, where her background is as a championship clogger.

All the kids will be wanting clogs for Christmas, just you watch.
