Just what is it with Japanese horror and phone calls? If it’s not the dead warning people of impending doom via spooky answer phone messages, it’s… er… supernatural warnings of impending doom via… um… Spooky phone calls.

On paper, Clock Tower sounds like another translation of a Pulse or a One Missed Call-style horror movie, but it’s actually taken from a video game franchise. Chilean director Jorge Olguin has been signed to direct the thriller based on the Japanese gamepad worrier that has a young woman warned by her estranged mother not to come home. She naturally investigates and unearths a haunting truth that was lurking in her family history. Now she’ll have to confront the ghosts of the past…

Todd Farmer, Jake Wade Wall and David Coggeshall have written the script and shooting starts this December.
