We reported almost a year ago about Jason Statham snapping up one of the lead roles in SAS Vs trained assassins thriller The Killer Elite. Now Clive Owen has joined the cast.

Irish director Gary McKendry is making his film debut with the pic, based on Ranulph Fiennes novel The Feather Men, which finds a group of SAS officers targeted by a secretive cadre of assassins called The Clinic.

See, a team from The Clinic has been hired by a former Shah of Oman to kill the SAS men, who he blames for his son’s death. The assassins specialise in making deaths look like accidents, but they face opposition from The Feather Men, vigilantes who provide protection to SAS families. Owen has signed on to play the leader of the protectors against The Stath’s deadly former Navy Seal.

The film was originally planned to shoot late last year, but either time or budget issues have pushed it to a spring/summer shoot this year.
