Here's a little teaser trailer for **Cirque Du Freak, and to give it its US subtitle, The Vampire's Assistant. And the good news is that it looks truly, undeniably freaky, with some gorgeously gothic effects: as if Tim Burton and HP Lovecraft got together to design a circus and its denizens.
The film stars Chris Massoglia as Darren Shan, a teenage boy who is turned into a vampire by an eccentric bloodsucker called Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly), only to find himself caught in a war between rival vampire factions. And we all know that that's never a good idea.
The rather promising cast also includes Ken Watanabe, Salma Hayek, Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones and Jane Krakowski. Paul Weitz directs, and co-wrote the script with Brian Helgeland, based on the book by Darren Shan. Hmm, between Paul Weitz directing this, and Chris Weitz directing The Twilight Saga: New Moon, do you think their whole family wears pointy teeth for get-togethers?
