He’s played his share of good guys, but usually when you see Ciarán Hinds’ name on the casting list for a film, your mind jumps to thinking of him as the villain of the piece. We’ll have to wait and see which side of the good/bad divide he falls when he joins the team shooting Agent 47.

Planned as more of a sequel than a reboot to the 2007 Hitman video-game adaptation, the new movie already has Rupert Friend busy playing the bald, tattooed assassin who takes on a super-soldier conspiracy driven by Zachary Quinto and Thomas Kretschmann. The Hollywood Reporter’s spies couldn’t find out exactly who Hinds is set to play, though they have learned that he’ll be a scientist who fits into a pivotal part of the plot.

Aleksander Bach is making his feature directorial debut with the film, working from a script by Skip Woods, Kyle Ward and Michael Finch. The cameras are rolling now in Berlin with Shame's Hannah Ware, Emilio Rivera, Dan Bakkedahl and Rolf Kanies in the cast.

Hinds, who was heard in Frozen as the elder troll, will next be seen on the big screen in Rodrigo Garcia’s Last Days In The Desert, which also features Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer and Tye Sheridan. He’s also expected to return as Mance Rayder in the new series of Game Of Thrones, which starts here on April 7.
