It's not often you find Deer Hunter co-stars Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken back sharing the screen together, so you might imagine it's for a gritty new drama or crime epic. Wrongo! It's new comedy The War On Grandpa.

The film has Matt Ember, Tom Astle, Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse adapting Robert Kimmel Smith's novel, which finds a lad named Peter (Max Jenkins) torn between his affection for his grandfather and his cherished bedroom. When his grandmother dies, grandpa moves in and, thanks to his dodgy leg, he can't live in the attic bedroom. So you can figure out what happens next... Yes, the boy is punted upstairs, but starts a Home Alone-style (though hopefully not as violent) prank war to reclaim his territory, only to discover that gramps is pretty adept at the tricks himself.

Tim Hill is the director marshaling the madness, while Walken will be the grandfather's best pal and Eugene Levy is also aboard in an unspecified role. We don't expect the same level of Oscar-level success this time around, but who can say? The movie hits US screens on 21 April next year but doesn't yet have a UK date.
