Following actor Christian Slater's arrest last week for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, the Interview with a Vampire star, who is also said to have punched his ex-girlfriend and bitten a man on the abdomen at a Los Angeles party, has had a statement issued on his behalf. It includes the following: "Christian Slater deeply regrets the events which occurred on the morning of August 11 and is taking actions to ensure that this kind of thing will not happen again. ... Notwithstanding the inaccuracy and sensationalism of many of the reports and rumours surrounding this incident, he is not going to comment any further at this time, except to thank his family, friends, and fans for their continued support during this difficult period."
