Goodbye, Tom Hiddleston. And hello Chris O’Dowd! Yes, Roy from the IT Crowd is the new Loki… Just kidding, Hiddlestoners. Your favourite Hulk plaything is still firmly in place in the Marvel universe. Yet O’Dowd, who has seen his career take off like a rocket in the last few years, is in Thor: The Dark World, if only for one scene.

Talking with the team at Indiewire, O’Dowd drops mention of his cameo, which has been kept quiet but was hinted at by a tweet he sent out last year. “You know what I've done, just for fun because I didn't think there was any way that I could be in a superhero movie, so I've done a scene in the new Thor movie, just for that. I just do like one scene, which was quite fun." No way you could be in a superhero movie, Chris? The campaign for O’Dowd as Hank Pym in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man starts here!

So today I'm filming a date scene with Natalie Portman.[#UpTheRossies](https://twitter.com/search/%23UpTheRossies) > > — chris o'dowd (@BigBoyler) [November 26, 2012](https://twitter.com/BigBoyler/status/272990584724148225)

The idea of O’Dowd popping up for a funny cameo in the Thor sequel already has us smiling in anticipation, and seems to indicate that despite the darker overtones this time, there’s still room for comedy on Midgard. Even if we wouldn’t want to be the man who tries to come between Thor and Jane Foster…

Aside from O’Dowd and Portman, the Dark World cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Zachary Levi, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Christopher Eccleston, Jaimie Alexander and the aforementioned Mr Hiddleston. Alan Taylor’s the director and it hits our screens on October 30. For more on the further adventures of Point Break and friends, check out our massive 2013 preview.
