Calling all Chris Evans fans: the beard is back. We repeat, the beard is back. Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War may have caused Steve Rogers’ impressive facial hair to fade away to dust, but it’s all present and accounted for in the trailer for The Red Sea Diving Report – a political thriller set in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s around the plight of Ethiopian refugees. Beard jokes aside, this one looks like a smart, timely and taut drama, with a starry cast and a Netflix release for the end of this month. Watch the trailer here.

Evans stars as Ari Levinson, who teams up on a mission with Michael Kenneth Williams’ Kabede Bimro to get thousands of Ethiopian refugees safely to Israel, using an abandoned Sudanese holiday resort as a base. Elsewhere, the cast includes Sir Ben Kingsley, Michiel Huisman, and Greg Kinnear, with Homeland executive producer Gideon Raff writing and directing. Not only does Resort look like a potent and thought-provoking thriller in the vein of Paul Greengrass, but it’s the latest example of Netflix using its considerable clout to pull in genuine A-list talent.

The Red Sea Diving Resort will hit Netflix on 31 July.
