Director Gina Prince-Bythewood already has the cameras rolling in the UK on graphic novel series adaptation The Old Guard. But news is still arriving about casting, with word that Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harry Melling and Veronica Ngo are all aboard.

Adapted by writer Greg Rucka and Prince-Bythewood from the Image Comics graphic novel title created by Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández, The Old Guard finds Charlize Theron as Andy, a woman leading a small group of soldiers who are all inexplicably immortal and have spent the years working as mercenaries. The team are more than over the novelty of not dying, but they then learn there's another immortal out there, a black female Marine. At the same time, evidence of their undying nature is captured on camera by a nefarious organisation.

Kiki Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts and Luca Marinelli are all among the ensemble, and Netflix will be carrying the film. There has been no indication from the streaming service when it might arrive.

Ejiofor voices Scar in the upcoming CG version of The Lion King (due 19 July) is part of the cast for The Devil All The Time, out next year. As for Ngo, she has a role in Spike Lee's latest, Da 5 Bloods.
