While we’re worried that the lack of confirmation from Disney Boss Alan Horn during a recent appearance means it still requires us to keep one finger on the Rumour Alert Klaxon{ =nofollow}, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Peter Mayhew, the man who played Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy and Revenge Of The Sith, will reportedly be back inside the walking carpet for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Though there has been no official announcement, chatter has risen about the possibility of Mayhew bringing ‘Bacca back to the Star Wars universe after he cancelled a convention appearance scheduled for May due to “filming.” Though Episode VII has reportedly already begun shooting, it was officially announced as kicking off next month and will be in production for several months. It’s also worth noting that the very same press release that talked up the shooting dates mentioned some "familiar faces" alongside the new leads.

So our hopes are now up that Chewbacca will indeed return for more sarcastic growling, howling, barking and grunting as a counterpoint to Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. The big question is, of course, who will have more grey hair?

Episode VII, which is set 30 years after the events in Return Of The Jedi, will be out on December 18, 2015. In case you need more of a refresher on everything we know so far, head here.
