Ain't It Cool News is reporting that G.I. Joe, a movie which seems to have been casting for eons, has finally found its leading man in the shape of Channing Tatum. The actor will play Duke in the Stephen Sommers' film based on the popular American toy line.

Tatum's yet to make a big name for himself, although he's getting there. Teenage girls will probably know him for his role in dance movie Step Up, but his best performance so far was in the indie movie A Guide To Recognising Your Saints. He'll next be seen in Stop-Loss opposite Ryan Philippe.

Tatum heads a cast that includes Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Shooting is set to start next month in LA. Honestly, we still know next to nothing about the world of G.I. Joe, having never played with them as kids, and everything we read just confuses us a bit more. But if you want a discussion on the finer points of M.A.S.K. or Visionaries, both of which should totally be movies, we're your boys.
