The August withdrawal of US and other forces from Afghanistan has led to chaos, death and desperation for those left behind. Now, writer George Nolfi has written an untitled, torn-from-the-headlines drama about the situation, which has attracted Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy to star.

Universal has bought the rights to Nolfi's script, which he's written based on a recently reported true story about special forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts, to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of the country.

There's no director attached yet, but Nolfi, who has called the shots for projects such as Apple TV+'s The Banker, The Adjustment Bureau and Birth Of The Dragon, may end up tackling it.
